What are the most common types of events at Bethaday Community Learning Space (BCLS?)
BCLS is a great facility for conferences, meetings, workshops or classes, wedding ceremonies, receptions, holiday parties, and other celebrations.

The facility rents as early as 8:00 am. On the weekends, all events must end by 11:00 pm, you can take up to one hour to clean-up. All guests need to leave the building by midnight on the weekend and 10:00 pm on a weekday. Include set up and clean-up time in your rental time

The client must secure commercial general liability insurance (certificate of insurance) from his or her insurance company and list TAF as insured for primary and noncontributory limits of liability. Coverage of at least $1,000,000 and combined single limit per occurrence/claim and aggregate respectively for bodily injury/property damage is required.

No. We don’t sell insurance, but there are event insurance companies online that provide coverage for one-time events. Search online for “one-day event insurance.” The following is a list of Event Insurance Companies that our previous customers have used:

The BCLS does not endorse the use of any of these companies. We are providing the list as a courtesy to our customers only.

Yes. We charge a service fee for all rentals of $200 not serving alcohol and $450 with serving alcohol plus $100 for each additional space. The client will get the security/damage deposit back no later than two weeks after the event if there is no damage to the facility, cleaned appropriately, and the event ends on time.

Yes, we allow alcohol with prior approval by BCLS. There is a minimum service fee of $450.00, for rentals serving alcohol. Add $100.00 to the cost for each additional rental space.

No, but you will need to purchase a banquet permit from the WA State Liquor Control Board online at lcb.wa.gov/licensing/order-banquet-permits-online. The client is responsible for making sure alcohol is not served to or consumed by minors. The legal responsibility for any guest’s consumption of alcohol rests with the individual signing the rental contract and the individual purchasing the WA State Liquor Banquet permit.

The BCLS receives payments through our secure online customer portal called Tripleseat. We will provide the link for you to approve your proposal and make a payment.

The BCLS has a strict cancellation policy. Please be sure that you are certain you want the venue before booking it. We highly recommend that you tour the venue before booking.

In total, we have 50 parking spaces in the parking lot — three of which reserved for disabled parking. There is also plenty of free street parking available along 108th street.

Yes, a rental coordinator will be available to assist you throughout your event.
No, you are responsible for set-up and clean-up unless you pay the additional set up and a cleanup fee.
The use of staples, nails, tacks, duct tape or other nonapproved tapes is strictly prohibited when affixing decorations. The use of 3M painters’ tape is acceptable. Please remove all tape when taking down decorations.

Ladders are available at users’ own risk.

No, all rental hours must be purchased before the event date through the customer portal online. Feel free to contact Geneva Sharpe at 206-712-7112, with questions.

Yes, you will need to remove all your items, wipe down the tables, sweep the floors, clean up the kitchen, empty the garbage/recycling/compost. The rental coordinator will be onsite to monitor your cleanup and provide cleaning supplies.

You are responsible for taking the bags out to the garbage, recycling, and compost dumpsters, located in our upper parking lot near the mailbox. We will supply the garbage bags.

Deliveries can be made at the start of your rental time and should be picked up the same day or by the next business day if available.

There is a $100 storage fee to pick up items on the next business day.

No, we do not.

Yes, but per the Fire Marshall’s code in a glass container that is as tall as the candle and flame. Floating candles are ok.

Yes, the patio outside the multipurpose room provides an excellent dancing surface.

Yes, if you keep the music at a decent level. Our rental coordinator will monitor the music during the event and will let you know if the music needs to be turned down.

The indoor tables and chairs can be used outside under the covered areas and concrete patios. They cannot be used on the lawn or graveled areas.

You may use any outside caterer you choose, and you are welcome to provide your food. The kitchen not equipped for cooking, so all food should be cooked before arrival.

Self-contained gas grills may be used on the large patio outside the multipurpose room. Staff will assist you with appropriate placement. Please indicate on your permit form that you will be bringing a grill. Grills are not allowed indoors or on any other patio or deck area.
